"Wisdom" and "Language" into the Future: Exploring AI‑Empowered Chinese Language Classrooms
2026-04-21 (Tuesday) Location : School hall Leader : Chinese Language department Category : Academic
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the educational landscape, integrating digital technology with innovative pedagogy has become essential in nurturing future-ready competencies. To explore these frontiers, the Language Teaching Support Section of the Education Bureau (EDB) collaborated closely with our school to host a professional seminar and open classroom focusing on the application of Generative AI (GenAI) in Chinese Language teaching.
The event commenced with an insightful keynote titled "Principles and Applications of Large Language Models," providing educators with a robust foundation in AI technology. This was followed by a detailed pedagogical briefing by Mr. Chan Lik-hang, setting the stage for the practical demonstration.
The highlight of the day was an open lesson conducted in the School Hall by Mr. Li Ka-wai and Class 4A students. Titled "From Life Experiences to Cultural Narratives," the session showcased a sophisticated writing pedagogy that synthesized "Cultural Roaming" materials with GenAI tools. Under the teacher’s guidance, students compared diverse texts to discern evocative descriptive elements. These observations were then transformed into precise "prompts," enabling students to utilize AI tools to refine and enhance their initial drafts. Through this rigorous process of comparison, selection, and reconstruction, students deepened their emotional expression and showcased the synergy of human-AI collaboration.
The program concluded with a school-based experience sharing session from a partner school, further enriching the discourse. Attended by over 170 educators, the event successfully fostered professional dialogue and broadened pedagogical horizons, marking a significant step forward in the digital transformation of Chinese Language education.
