2025-01-22The Sodality Game DayOn 22nd January 2025, our school sodality representatives held The Sodality Game Day at the covered playground, experiencing the fun at Valdocco Youth Centre. The Sodality members competed and cooperated with each other, enchancing teamwork and embodying the spirit of Youth leading Youth in the process. 2025-01-20English Ambassadors PartyOn 20th January, our English ambassadors had a pizza party with NETs and English Corner teachers. This event honored the ambassadors for their valuable contributions during the English Clubhouse lunch sessions and their engagement with peers and teachers. Our NETs, Mr. Sala and Ms. Poppy, also presented the Best Service Award to the ambassadors who have outdone themselves for their service. 2025-01-16Religious ShowIn celebration of the Feast of our Founder, Saint John Bosco, the school organized the "Religious Show" on 16th and 17th January 2025. Students practiced their Bible reading on stage and studied the life of St. John Bosco in the drama competition. 2025-01-15Interactive Theater on IntegrityThe Spiritual, Moral and Civic Education Team, in collaboration with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), organized an interactive theater on integrity for S5 students during the assembly in January. Through the drama, students learned about the importance of integrity and the harms of corruption. 2025-01-13Pop Singing ClassWe are glad to have Mr Bryant Kam (1998, S5), an old boy of our school and a participant in the TV show "Midlife, Sing & Shine! 2", return to his alma mater to teach pop singing skills to ten students from S1 to S5. 2025-01-13Classroom Manner CompetitionIn December, the Spiritual, Moral and Civic Education team held a Classroom Manner Competition for junior form students. On 13th January, Principal To presented certificates and prizes to the winning classes. Even the competition has ended, we hope that students will continue to treat others with courtesy and become humble and polite Salesian boys. 2025-01-11Field trip to the Gin Drinkers LineIn order to let students learn about the history of the Battle of Hong Kong, our school invited Hong Kong military history researcher and author of book "孤獨前哨:再論一九四一年香港戰役", Mr. Choi Yiu-lun, to lead students on a field trip to the Gin Drinkers Line. During the war, Hong Kong's defenders fought with the Japanese army at the Gin Drinkers Line. 2025-01-10Life-wide Learning day (Form 1) - Positive Psychology Campus Promotion DayThe Social Welfare Department organized 10 social service agencies to set up different game booths at our school. Activities included writing positive cards, making sand art bottles, doing sports, FREEJAM, making hand creams, making dried flowers, etc. The aim was to raise awareness about mental health and guide students on how to maintain a positive mindset. 2025-01-10Life-wide Learning day (Form 6) - Let's go bowlingTo help reduce the pressure on students preparing for the DSE, the Extracurricular Activities Committee arranged for the entire Form 6 class to go bowling. The students had a great time and felt physically and mentally relaxed. 2025-01-04Chinese culture and life experience one day tripIn order for students to have a firsthand understanding of the country's latest developments and Chinese culture, they visited Shenzhen Book City, Shenzhen Museum, and shopping malls, which enhanced their appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture and the people's lives in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. 2025-01-04Dominic Savio Kindergarten Fun Day serviceOn 4th January, the 17th Hong Kong Island Scout Troop of our school provided community service for the Parent-Child Game Day at Dominic Savio Kindergarten and Dominic Savio Nursery. This included crowd control, maintaining order, and cleaning up the venue. 2025-01-04Multicultural Literacy Reading and Writing Programme: Lai Chi Wo Culture and Natural Ecology Investigation TourThis school year, our school has collaborated with the University of Hong Kong to design a programme for Form 3 students centered on the theme of "Centenary Trees". The aim is to encourage students from diverse multicultural backgrounds to understand the relationship between the natural environment, human feelings, and society through reading, field investigations, and creative work. Students will learn to respect different cultures and coexist harmoniously with nature. 2024-12-27In-School Oratory Faith CampMore than ten students and teachers went to the Rosary Church for a three-day, two-night faith camp from 27th December to 29th December. 2024-12-24Christmas Service of the Salesian Youth Altar Boys Sodality and In-School Oratory Christmas CarolingAround 20 altar boys assisted in various liturgical celebrations of the Lord's Nativity. In addition to preparing the venue, rehearsing the liturgy, and having the Christmas party, they also went to the Salesian Missionary House to sing Christmas carols for the priests and brothers living there. The Christmas Mass was presided over by Rev. Domingos Leung, the Provincial of the SDB, while the students served earnestly around the altar. 2024-12-23Hoi Ha Ecological field study - Coastal EcologistHoi Ha Wan Marine Park is one of Hong Kong's first established marine parks, which accomodates a wide variety of corals and fish. The Biology department, in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), led a group of Form 5 Biology students on an ecological study and coral viewing trip to Hoi Ha Wan. Through activities such as studying the sandy and rocky shore ecosystems, a boat trip to visit the coral conservation area, and a laboratory tour, the students gained first-hand experience of Hong Kong's winter marine ecology and conservation efforts. 2024-12-13English Culture Week - PaddingtonThe movie Paddington was screened as the last activity in English Culture Week on 13th December at Flamma Cafe. Juice was served by our English ambassadors to the English VIPs that day. Students enjoyed the movie and learnt about this beloved fictional character in British culture 2024-12-09Bleaching lacquer workshopBleaching lacquer is one of the intangible cultural heritages of China. Bleaching lacquer is a new and unique art technique. During the activity, students mastered the history of bleaching lacquer, principles, colors and application of related products. 2024-12-07"ICAN Good Parents" lecture plus BBQ activity by PTA AcademyOur school's alumni, Dr Wong Chung Kwong, JP, former professor and department head of the Department of Psychiatry at CUHK, gave a lecture on "ICAN Good Parents" to help parents improve their mental and psychological health, promote parent-child relationships, and learn effective ways to raise children. Parents were also invited to participate in an online course to deepen their understanding and practice of the "ICAN Good Parents" model. 2024-12-07Video Game and Digital Creativity WorkshopThe workshop will explore game as a tool of playful doing and a form of critical intervention. Six members of the Altar Boys Sodality participated in the event to affirm their identity as altar servers and to communicate with altar servers from other schools. 2024-11-30"The Last Dance" movie watching and sharing sessionThe Last Dance focuses on traditional funeral customs, a topic rarely explored in Hong Kong films, highlighting the special significance of saying goodbye and helping the deceased move on. The school held a parent-child movie screening and post-movie sharing session on 30 November, 2024, with over 80 parents and students participating. 2024-11-29Picnic day (Form 1)This year's school picnic day for form one students was held at Lady MacLehose Holiday Village. The proceeds will go to Casa Famiglia, a residential care service for the mentally handicapped, people with autism and developmental disorders, as well as a community inclusion scheme. 2024-11-01Exhibition: Lost and Found in Hong Kong: The Unsung Chinese Heroes at D-DayOur school arranged for students from the Chinese History class in Form 4 and Form 5 to visit the main library of the Chinese University of Hong Kong to see the exhibition "Lost and Found in Hong Kong: The Unsung Chinese Heroes at D-Day". This exhibition aims to deepen students' understanding of the contributions of Chinese soldiers in the European battlefield during World War II. 2024-10-30Dragon FeteSpiritual, Moral and Civic Education Team organized Dragon Fete in October. After the homily, the new Chairman and four committee members took their oath together. During the ceremony, Ms. Fung Ho Yan introduced the mentors and objectives of each sodality. More than 200 sodality members, Catholic students and teachers attended the mass in the Parish in Salesian School. 2024-10-01Rosary Gathering at LunchOctober is the month of Our Lady of the Rosary. Members and teachers of the Salesian Youth Sodality and Oratory take turns participating in the Rosary gathering held in the chapel on the third floor during lunch time, praying together for world peace and various intentions. 2024-09-28Salesian Family Joint-School Opening MassOn 28th September, more than 10 Salesian Youth Sodality members from our school participated in the Salesian Family Joint-School Opening Mass in the School Hall at Tang King Po School. 2024-09-28EDB Peer Mediator Workshop14 student leaders from our school participated in the Peer Mediator Workshop organized by the Education Bureau. The workshop lasted for three days, and the first day was the introductory workshop. The students were dedicated during training and eventually lived up to expectations by winning third place in the drill competition (selection group) and first place in the flag raising competition. They were also recommended to represent the Island Region in the Hong Kong Scout Rally 2024. The awards were presented during the Island Festival Day 2024 on 6th October. 2024-09-20Exploration of Biodiversity in Hong Kong Short Video CompetitionThe "Exploration of Biodiversity in Hong Kong Short Video Competition" organized by the Moral, Civic and National Education Section of the Education Bureau aims to encourage students to actively explore the biodiversity in Hong Kong. By conducting field surveys and recording different wild animals and plants with a camera, students can increase their knowledge and understanding of local ecology and biodiversity, and cultivate their love and appreciation for the natural environment. 2024-09-19Grand Opening of English Corner Clubhouse Lunch SessionsThe grand opening of our English Corner Clubhouse Lunch Sessions took place on September 19th during lunchtime. Students were engaged with our NETs and English ambassadors in vibrant conversation and fun-filled games, while delicious snacks were also served. 2024-09-16English Corner VIP Award PresentationIn recognition of student participation, the English Department has awarded special gifts to the top three VIPs who were most frequent visitors to the English Corner during the last school year. These dedicated individuals received a Paris 2024 Olympics Pin Badge as a token of appreciation for their commitment to engaging with the English Corner community. 2024-09-09English Ambassador TrainingIn preparation for the English Corner Clubhouse Lunch Sessions, the English Department have recruited the help of over 10 elite students to be the English Ambassadors. These dedicated students underwent intensive training and will continue to receive regular Monday training sessions. They will prepare games, do promotions, and assist English teachers to run the lunch sessions.
