South Korea Faith and Culture Pilgrimage 2025
2025-07-10 To 14 Location : South Korea Leader : Religious Education team Category : Academic
From 10 to 14 July, our school organized a pilgrimage to South Korea, involving 20 students, 2 teachers, and Fr. Antonio Leung, to explore the history of Catholic evangelization in South Korea and experience its faith and culture.
During the pilgrimage, students began each day with prayer or a Eucharistic celebration as the foundation of their journey. At the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Namyang, students took turns leading the Rosary, and praying for various intentions using a giant Rosary rock. The group visited Myeongdong Cathedral and Yakhyeon Catholic Church, participated in local Masses, and reflected on the differences between the Eucharistic celebrations in South Korea and Hong Kong.
Students also learned about South Korea’s history and culture, particularly visited the birthplace and tomb of Saint Andreas Kim Taegon, learning why the martyrs remained steadfast in their faith amidst adversity and ultimately sacrificed their lives for it. Fr. Leung invited students to reflect on how the martyrs’ choice to die for their faith was not a sudden decision but stemmed from understanding their roots in the Creator, finding the ultimate purpose of life - eternal life. Fr. Leung also encouraged students to living each day faithfully, fulfilling one’s duties, and bear witness to God in their daily lives.
Finally, the group visited the Salesian Parish in Seoul, learning about its unique characteristics and engaging in exchanges with Korean Salesian priests.
